TO STRENGTHEN its campaign against insurgency, the provincial Peace and Order Council (POC) led on Tuesday, February 18, the "Orientation on the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) and Road Safety" for barangay officials across Pampanga.

The orientation was held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center (BZGCC) in the City of San Fernando. The POC is chaired by Governor Dennis Pineda.

Myrvi Apostol-Fabia, provincial director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Pampanga, said the event is in response to the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to end local communist armed conflict (Elcac).

"Ito ang approach ng government ngayon in response to the call of the President to end insurgency na sabi nga ay 51 years na. So, ang kanyang kautusan is 'yung whole-of-nation approach na kung saan lahat ng sektor ng komunidad ay sama-sama dapat na tumugon sa mga pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan," she said.

She also stressed the importance of barangay officials in the information dissemination and implementation of programs that concern the welfare of the community.

"Napaka-importante na magkaroon ng ganitong malawakang pagbaba ng impormasyon sa mga barangay. Dahil primarily, sila ang inaatasan ngayon na tuparin at isagawa kung ano man ang mga programa ngayon ng ating national government," Fabia said.

Meanwhile, ex-officio Board Member Renato "Gabby" Mutuc, president of the Pampanga Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB), said that he and his fellow barangay officials are willing to cooperate and submit to the directives given to them by the National Government.

"Kung hindi kami susunod ay alam naman na namin ang mangyayari, pwedeng masuspende o mawala sa katungkulan. Kaya bilang frontliner ng ating gobyerno, pinapahalagahan namin ang mga ito," he said.

Pineda, who also graced the event, expressed his gratitude to the National Government for its continuous support to the programs of the Provincial Government.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako kay President Duterte sa pagtulong, at sa mga proyektong ibinigay niya for Pampanga, gano'n din po kay Senator Bong Go na bumisita pa mismo rito sa probinsiya para maghatid ng tulong," he said.

Also present during the event were Senator Bong Go, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, Provincial Board members, city and municipal mayors, officials from the DILG-Pampanga, Land Transportation Office-Central Luzon, Department of Public Works and Highways-Central Luzon, Philippine National Police-Central Luzon, Pampanga Police Provincial Office, and Provincial Disaster Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
