Anti-drug operations net 4, P93,000 shabu

FOUR persons, including two high-value target drug personalities, were arrested, while P93,900 worth of substance believed to be shabu were seized in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The police identified the arrested suspects as Maryjoy Jangad, 25; Arniel Andico Alvarez, 46; Alexander Barredo Jr., 35; and Allan Bacalso, 50.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Jangad, a drug personality, was caught in possession of P64,000 worth of shabu in a drug bust conducted around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, in Purok Bayanihan in the village of Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte.

Also seized from Jangad was the P500 marked money.

Galvez said that Alvarez, a carpenter, was arrested in a drug bust around 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, in Calle Harmonia in the village of Lunzuran, Zamboanga City.

Seized from him were P3,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money.

Seized from Barredo were P20,400 worth of shabu, P1,000 marked money and a motorcycle when arrested in a drug bust around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on Estrada Drive in the village of San Roque, Zamboanga City.

Meanwhile, Bacalso, listed as number 4 priority target, was arrested in a drug bust around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Purok Mangga in the village of Poblacion, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Seized from Bacalso were P6,500 worth of shabu, P500 marked money, and a cellular phone.

Galvez said the suspects were detained while formal charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
