2 kids die in explosion

TWO children were killed in an explosion in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Thursday, February 20.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the village of Sicayab, Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez did not release the identities of the children, but said they were both males, five and eight years old.

She said investigation showed the two children were playing at the residence of Nonamar Pasculado when an explosion occurred, killing them instantaneously.

Galvez said the children sustained injuries. (SunStar Zamboanga)
