THE Kiboy’s Computer Solutions (KCS) and the ARQ Builders-KSB Class continued to run roughshod over their opponents as they logged wins to keep their respective spots atop the standings in the Mayor Edgardo C. Labella 1st Charter Cup Basketball Tournament at the Cebu City Sports Institute on Thursday night, Feb. 20, 2020.

KCS mangled LM Paragsa, 98-79, while ARQ-KSB downed ASPA Scaffolding, 92-80, on Thursday night, Feb. 20, 2020. KCS and ARQ-KSB now own identical 3-0 win-loss cards in this pocket tournament that will hand over an incredible P150,000 to the champion team.

Boasting of arguably the deepest roster in this competition, KCS did not encounter much trouble in its win against LM Paragsa as it flaunted its strength and skill early and often to establish leads that went as high as 22 points. KCS’ bench proved to be the deciding factor in the match as it scored a whopping 60 points.

University of the Visayas stalwarts Melvin Butohan and Ted Saga led the way for KCS as the former had 15 points, five rebounds and three steals while the latter had 13 markers, 10 boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, ARQ-KSB had a much tougher time against ASPA as it trailed by 10 early on before turning things around with a massive scoring outburst in the middle two periods. Trailing 15-25 after the first, ARQ-KSB suddenly came alive and outscored their opponents, 54-32, in the second and the third to take a 69-57 lead to the final stanza.

Ferdinand Lusdoc paced ARQ-KSB with 21 points, Jojo Tangkay added 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals while Shaquille Imperial and Lyndon Gudez chipped in 12 markers apiece.

And finally, Fighter 50 boosted its record to 2-1 with a 94-82 win over the Athalia 1 on 1.

The ageless Danny Aying and Dondon Hontiveros showed they had plenty left in the tank as the former Ginebra forward had 19 points and eight rebounds while the “Cebuano Hotshot” finished with 16 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The young guns also showed off as Dyll Roncal filled the stat sheet up, piling up 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals, while one-time Cesafi MVP Jaybie Mantilla fired in 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.

LM Paragsa and Athalia remain winless in this tournament so far with each squad holding a 0-3 card. (JNP)
