WHO among us has graduated from college or even post-graduate studies, and still felt like we weren’t ready to do business in the real world?

Experience is the best teacher, but there are so many crucial things in professional life that traditional school fails to mention. It’s high time for programs that “develop business people for the business world of today,” according to Dr. Chito Salazar, Southwestern University Phinma education president.

Through a press conference held at the Cebu City Sports Club, SWU Phinma introduced its revamped business school curriculum. The university made improvements in its business administration, accountancy, hotel and restaurant management, and MBA degrees, combining industry fundamentals with practical skills.

B-School’s programs are industry driven, with faculty members who are not only qualified in the academe, but have real-world experiences in their respective fields.

“We focus on hard-to-find skills like leadership, strategic thinking, data analysis and resiliency to recover from setbacks,” said B-School dean Danny Saracin.

“We think that the business graduate of today must be different and must be flexible. We must make them ready for any kind of job that may come in the future,” added Dr. Salazar. After all, there are many jobs today that didn’t exist 10 years ago. With these new learning programs, B-school graduates are better equipped to become A-list, sought-after professionals who are trained to be competent and creative in a fast-changing business environment.
