6 wanted persons, including minors, nabbed in Eastern Visayas

AT LEAST six wanted persons, including minors, were nabbed in two separate operations in Eastern Visayas Thursday, February 20.

Arrested were Vincent Anthony Clemente, 20; Lovely Caratay, 18; and three minors ages 17 and 16, by virtue of warrant of arrest dated February 6, 2020 for attempted murder.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Honorable Nathaniel Baldono, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 2 in Borongan City, with recommended bail of P120,000 for each of the accused.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Eastern Samar Provincial Field Unit led by Chief Master Sergeant Jose Marcelino Gagabuan and Borongan City Police led the operation around 4 p.m. in Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

In Leyte, police arrested Juditha Romo, 57, married, and a resident of said of Palompon town.

Palompon Municipal Police led by Captain Ambrosio Demain and Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 8 led by Lieutenant Colonel Robert Bongayon Jr. arrested Romo by virtue of warrant of arrest dated October 29, 2019 for violation of section 4 c (4) of RA 10175 or the Cyber Crime Prevention Act of 2012.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Honorable Janet Cabalona, acting presiding judge of RTC Branch 8 in Tacloban City, with recommended bail of P48,000.

Meanwhile, Police in Southern Leyte also implemented a search warrant against respondent Vergel Bernales, 54, jobless, and a resident of Liloan town, for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.”

Honorable Carlos Arguelles, presiding judge of RTC Branch 14 in Baybay City issued the search warrant dated February 18, 2020 which resulted in the arrest of Bernales and confiscation of one unit Caliber .38 revolver with serial number 981403 marked “Danao Arms MFG. Corp. Danao City, Cebu”, 14 pieces ammunition for Caliber .38 revolver; and one piece pouch from the latter’s possession.
