TO FURTHER elevate how women empowerment can change the world for the better, the Zonta Club of Cebu 1 and Cebu 2 will host the District 17, Area 3 meeting for Biennium 2018-2020 on February 21 to February 23, 2020 in Bai Hotel, Mandaue City.

Area 3 director, Stella Bernabe, said that Zonta's mission of empowering women through service and advocacy has a thrust of ending violence against women and children (VAWC).

The Area 3 meeting, which has the theme "Interact, Innovate and Immerse," will tackle how the different clubs in Visayas and Mindanao can support the fight against VAWC and end early child marriage.

Zonta works with community partners like the LGUs, barangays as well as Law, Inc., Pink Center at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and the Gullas Medical Center to help address VAWC-related concerns.

Several service and advocacy projects that are being undertaken by the respective clubs in Area 3 include a drop-off center for abused women and children and the training of VAWC desk officers through symposiums and training seminars, since they are in the front line to cater to victims of abuse in the barangays.
