Enriquez still in serious condition

ONE week after suffering a bad fall in an exhibition match for the Cebu Niños, Woodrow Enriquez is still breathing with the aid of an apparatus as he continue to battle the spinal column injury at his hospital bed.

However Enriquez, according to a team official, is “gradually recovering” from the injury both physically and mentally.

“(Woodrow) is gradually recovering. (But) still having a hard time breathing on his own,” M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños strength and conditioning coach Pio Solon said in his text message.

However, Solon would neither deny nor confirm sketchy reports that Enriquez can no longer move half of his body.

“That’s serious (report). We can’t tell for certain as of now,” he said.

Enriquez suffered a bad fall against the Alaska Aces during their exhibition match at the University of San Carlos Gym last year.

The former Cebu Doctors’ University standout and the reigning Liga Pilipinas MVP, laid motionless for nearly 10 minutes before he was carried out on a stretcher.

The MRI scan confirmed the diminutive point guard suffered a spinal column injury, which was why he couldn’t move.

Enriquez underwent surgery last Saturday to relieve the pressure on his spinal column.
