Carcar’s newest resto offers Filipino, Malaysian fare

GOING on a road trip down south of Cebu usually means eating at fast food joints, the town market or having an impromptu picnic somewhere. But this doesn’t have to be the case anymore. Just 40 kilometers from Cebu City, or about an hour-and-a-half drive away, one will pass by Carcar City where he’ll find the new, Hey Ju Food Station.

Hey Ju, as it is fondly called by locals, opened just around three months ago but has already gained popularity among the residents of Carcar and even those who are just passing through. This is mainly due to its great food, great and fast service, great staff and, a big plus, its reasonable pricing.

Hey Ju offers an eclectic menu at reasonable prices. Some of its bestsellers are Malaysian dishes: Mee Goreng (Spicy Malaysian Stir Fried Noodles) and Sambal Sotong (Spicy Squid Sambal).

Filipino favorites are also numerous diners’ favorite go-to such as their Crispy Pata, Sisig, Baked Scallops, Calamares, Crispy Fried Chicken, Buttered Chicken, Spicy Crabs, Stuffed Crabs, all kinds of Noodles and a whole lot more.

Aside from these a la carte delights, it also has ready-to-eat dishes, much appreciated for those who are in a rush, such as its always hot Pochero, Kalderetang Kanding, Tinulang Bisayang Manok and occasionally, Balbacua.

This month, the restaurant has added a new offering in its menu which is the Grilled Chicken Pecho or paa with unlimited rice and free sinigang soup. The best part is that it’s not half-cooked or a dried up dish since Hey Ju prepares the food fresh. Customers are sure to get their orders juicy and flavorful. For dessert, diners can choose from its Moist Triple Chocolate Cake or a selection of ice cream.

Hey Ju is a family-run business. Its mission is to offer great food at very reasonable prices, attracting even the most discerning of diners.

“We don’t mind making a small profit as long as the customers just keep coming back,” said Caitlin Acuña, Hey Ju’s restaurant manager. (PR)
