NLEX Harbor Link complete by March 2020

CLARK FREEPORT -- The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Harbor Link, which is expected to be completed in March 2020, will decongest Metro Manila.

This was stated by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar during the opening of the NLEX Harbor Link Malabon Exit on Friday, February 21.

Villar said the traffic problem at the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue or EDSA and A Bonifacio Avenue will improve once the harbour link has opened to traffic.

The DPWH secretary said this is part of the Build Build Build infrastructure program of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“I remember nung magsimula kame, yung ang challenge ng pangulo sa aten na kailangan ma decongest ang EDSA, kailangan ma decongest na ang Metro Manila and now three years into the term I can say that the battle for the traffic we are starting the time,” Villar said.

“When started this we knew it would get worse before it would get better but now we crossed that threshold. I can say that starting this year, simula po ito sa mga projects dito sunond sunod po ang mga openings the quality of life in Metro Manila the traffic will begin to siginificantly improve this year,” he added.

Villar said the construction is in full swing and the Metro Pacific has vowed to complete the whole Harbor Link by March. “We have 3,000 workers working day and night para ma hit yung target naten this March.”

Villar thanked the local government units of Malabon, Caloocan and Navotas for their support to the project.

“Napaka-active po nila, noong nagkakaproblema po kami sa right of way sila po yung tumutulong sa amin kaya malaki po ang pasasalamat ko,” Villar said.
