Army chief bestows military merit medals to 7ID personnel

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija -- Philippine Army Commanding General Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay bestowed Military Merit Medals (Interim) to one officer and seven enlisted personnel of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID).

The personnel were instrumental in neutralizing leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) that paved the way for them to be recommended for Gold Cross Medal, the 3rd highest award of the Armed Forces of the Philippines gained in combat.

Gapay lauded the troops who received the Military Merit Medals which put into high gear the realization of the accomplishment of 7ID’s mission for 2020.

“I encourage the rest of 7ID not to let up until all armed NPA groups are totally neutralized,” he added.

For his part, 7ID Commander Major General Lenard T. Agustin said may the medals received by the eight troops serve as motivation for all to be more daring, innovative and fearless in performing their given tasks.

“Let us not rest on our laurels, instead let us continue working with the aim to totally neutralize the rest of the armed NPA groups and their underground mass organizations for a truly peaceful Ilocos Region, Central Luzon and their adjacent towns and provinces,” Agustin stressed.(PIA-Central Luzon)
