PASSENGERS are advised to strictly follow rules and regulations for a hassle-free experience at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) in Cebu City.

Around 50,000 passengers are expected to pass through the terminal because of the long weekend in observance of two special non-working holidays.

On Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, the City of Cebu will celebrate its 83rd Charter Day.

Tuesday, Feb. 25, on the other hand, is a national holiday in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the Edsa People Power Revolution.

CSBT officer-in-charge Carmen Quijano advised passengers not to wait for buses by the exit and go directly inside the terminal, instead.

“We’ve been receiving complaints because there are some passengers who gather at the exit instead of getting inside where they can comfortably and safely wait for their buses,” Quijano told SunStar Superbalita in Cebuano.

Bus drivers and conductors were asked to turn down passengers who will flock to the exit point along N. Bacalso Ave. for safety purposes.

The management has also deployed security guards to ensure that the exit way remains free of stubborn passengers.

Quijano also asked passengers to strictly abide by the “no ticket, no entry” policy.

“The governor (Gwendolyn Garcia) has temporarily moved the stalls and concessionaires to the back portion of the terminal to accommodate more passengers. Their comfort and safety was prioritized over what could have been potential income for the terminal, yet they choose to catch a ride outside. Let’s just stick with the policy,” Quijano said in Cebuano.

Part of the “no ticket, no entry” policy is the distribution of entry passes to passengers to keep them from crowding the ticketing booths at the entrance of the terminal.

On weekends, peak season or when the need arises, bus lines will issue an entry pass to keep passengers from crowding the entryway. Passengers with entry passes can proceed to the waiting area.

In a related development, passengers are encouraged to bring their own rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizers amid threats of the coronavirus disease 2019.

Bus operators are directed to regularly clean and disinfect their units as a preventive measure against the spread of the disease. (ANV, RTF)
