A MAN died while his live-in partner remained in critical condition after they were stabbed by their son in Sitio Libo, Barangay Mohon, Talisay City, Cebu around 3 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020.
The fatality was identified as Juanito Perocho, 57. His partner Jean Fernandez, 49, suffered serious wounds in different parts of her body.
The suspect, Martin Fernandez, 26, was arrested by the police. The suspect is not mentally well, according to them.
Before the incident happened, Jean had noticed that Martin wanted to go outside their house. She told him not to as it was still early.
This irked Martin, who then repeatedly stabbed his mother with a small knife.
When Perocho was awakened by the commotion, he tried to stop Martin. However, the suspect turned his anger on his father and stabbed him several times in the stomach and chest.
Martin’s two sisters shouted for their neighbors to help them stop their brother. Martin rushed outside.
The police caught him hiding in the bush nearby at 7:20 a.m.
Martin was known to go berserk when his parents refused to let him go outside due to his mental state. However, the Sunday incident was the first time that he stabbed his parents.
When he was informed that he killed his own father and stabbed his mother, Martin did not show any remorse, according to the police.
Martin will be facing parricide and frustrated parricide complaints before the Talisay City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, Feb. 24. (FMD / KAL)
