THE Carcar Lechoneros earned for themselves another shot at redemption as they ousted the Sibonga Pillars, 82-70, in the semifinals of the Gullas Cup 2020 at the Talisay City Sports Complex on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020.
The win allowed Carcar to book a ticket to the championship round where they will get a chance at capturing the title that eluded them last season when they were defeated by the Talisay City Aquastars.
Jumar Bucao led the way for Carcar as he had 18 points, four rebounds and four assists while Leonilo Martorillas added 14 points, seven boards and two blocked shots. Rey Alfeche also played well as he tallied 12 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Carcar was just ahead by two, 59-57, at the end of the third canto but suddenly exploded in the fourth where they unleashed a huge 23-13 run to pull away and capture the victory.
Meanwhile, the Minglanilla Archangels sent their semifinal match-up with the reigning champions Talisay to a winner-take-all match after they pulled off a stunning 75-73 win.
Acer Go was the hero for Minglanilla as he canned a midrange jumper with 4.9 seconds remaining to give the Archangels the lead for good. He finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and four blocks. (JNP)
