San Fernando cites Taiheiyo, Solid Earth as top taxpayers

THE Municipality of San Fernando has recognized Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. (TCPI) and its materials supplier, Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC), as the highest business taxpayers and progressive contributors of the town’s progress in 2019.

Mayor Lakambini D. Reluya handed the recognition to TCPI chief executive officer Kazuhiko Ichizawa and SEDC president Dennis B. Tenefrancia during an Investors’ Forum the town hosted at Harolds Hotel in Cebu City recently.

SEDC director and senior technical adviser Hiroyuki Sakakibara, TCPI vice president Takuya Nose and Vanessa N. Bongcawil, community and general affairs section head, joined the top executives in receiving the separate awards.

Ichizawa and Tenefrancia took the opportunity to renew the commitment of both companies in the growth of San Fernando beyond fulfilling their tax obligations by being consistent partners in community development.

The mayor also recognized the other top taxpayers during the forum she organized to promote stewardship among the town’s stakeholders, the ease for new investors in doing business, and unite the business sector.

“Attracting private sector investment into San Fernando is essential to stimulate and maintain economic growth,” noted Neil L. Papas, the municipal administrator who hosted the forum.

The forum had presentations about the peace and order situation and the anti-drug campaign, relevance of the local campus of Cebu Technological University and the school immersion program, and efforts to build a disaster resilient community.

Reluya also presented the town’s accomplishments in 2019, the obstacles it faced and future ventures it is pursuing, as her team also presented plans of upcoming infrastructure projects and the ease of doing business in San Fernando.

“San Fernando shines,” declared the mayor as she echoed the town’s battle cry. (PR)
