Espedilla: Yummy food for losing weight

Espedilla: Yummy food for losing weight
GOOD day. I am Sherry. I am looking for food that are yummy but still can help me lose weight. Please help me.

I do hope you can help me make my journey to getting that lesser weight enjoyable. Thank you and God bless!

Sherry of Tagum

Dear Sherry of Tagum,

Yes, there are food that despite being yummy can help you in your journey in losing those unwanted pounds. But, the key here is – eat everything in moderation.

1. Eggs

Latest studies have shown that if you have egg in your breakfast, you will increase your chances of losing weight. This is because eggs are packed with protein, which means it will take time to digest it. This will make you feel full, and this is the reason why you will eat less during the rest of the day.

Japanese who would want to lose weight eat boiled or poached egg for breakfast.

2. Steak

Throughout the years, health experts have been telling us not to eat much of red meat. But, on the contrary, steak is not really that bad for your waistline because a lean cut of beef has barely more saturated fat than a similar-sized skinless chicken breast. And just like eggs, steak is filled with proteins which can keep you feeling full longer throughout the day.

But, be sure to choose cuts with less fat. So, get the tenderloin, sirloin, or other extra-lean cuts – and limit your portions to the size of your palm... nothing more!

3. Pork

Well, not all pork are created the same. There are pork which are low in fats, especially those cared for naturally or the organic types. But, unfortunately, most of the Filipinos would not go for organic pork because of the price. This is the reason why I see some suppliers of organic pork have to shut down because the market is really not good.

So, be sure to choose well. Go for pork tenderloin from an organic pork. Be sure to limit your intake, too. Everything should be in moderation.

4. Pasta

Choose the whole grain type and make your portions small. Research suggests that people who eat several servings of whole-grain foods a day are more likely to slim down and maintain much healthy weights. Moreover, eating whole grains instead of refined grains can also help burn belly fat, according to one study.

5. Nuts

Nuts are good fats that could help your circulatory system keep going. They are also packed with nutrients, protein, and fiber, which can help stabilize your blood sugar. But, limit your portion to about a tablespoon of nuts a day to cut back on calories.

6. Cheese

The body tends to burn more fat when it gets enough calcium. That is why, you should eat more low-fat cheese, yogurt and milk if you really want to lose weight because time and again have shown that eating these kinds of food may help you lose those dreaded extra pounds.

7. Coffee

Drink your coffee black without the added fat and calories – if you want this to help you lose weight. Moreover, don’t drink more than two cups per day nor mix it with cream, sugar or flavored syrups, otherwise, your favorite cup of coffee would be your “bad” food.

8. Get good portions from your favorite bad foods

Yes, cakes, cookies, chocolates and the likes are “bad food”. No doubt. But, don’t ban yourself from enjoying your favorite treats. Otherwise, if you deprive yourself from your favorite bad food, this can set you up for failure. Just be sure to limit yourself with just enough portions.

Good luck!
