EXCEPT last Valentine’s Day, some business analysts observed that there was a decline of people going to malls perhaps due to the prevailing Covid-19 scare. Formerly known as novel coronavirus acute respiratory disease (nCoV-2019 ARD), the World Health Organization has officially named the source of the scare as coronavirus disease.
It’s not only those who died or were infected that were affected but also businesses which can feel a pinch of losses from the scare. The decline in sales can be felt now since the public is advised to stay home as much as possible.
First on the line is the tourism industry that noted the decrease of people going to tourist destinations especially in Asian countries. Even local tourists and travelers are noted to be adamant going to spots where there are a number of people visiting.
We can also note these days the number of airline ticket sale promos that are mushrooming in view of the lesser number of airline travelers. Even if tickets are cheaper, not many want to take the risk of being infected with the Covid-19.
Hotel, inns and restaurant owners are likewise adversely affected because of the lessened number of tourists who could have been their guests. The lesser people, the lesser the profit.
It can also be noted that there are also events and activities that were canceled as a pre-emptive measure for the possible infection and spread of the virus. Among these are the festivals, concerts, sports events and others in the country which were called-off.
While online selling and other business are “in” today, it is also hurting due to dwindled orders and sales. It is a public consumers’ knowledge that almost, if not all commodities are made and coming from China.
What’s worse is the idea that the virus can survive at things for some time. Many of my friends have refrained albeit temporarily from buying things from China online.
There’s a little good news on this global threat. China has developed a cure. This, although still under test, has been given the go signal to test it on humans to finally eradicate the virus. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
