THE Department of Health Region (DOH) Davao bared that a total of 66 individuals in the region underwent quarantine protocols due to suspected coronavirus disease (Covid-19) but they yielded negative results.

In a report from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Monday, February 24, Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (Resu) head Dr. Cleo Fe Tabada said that of the reported cases, 23 were persons under investigation (PUIs) and 43 were persons under monitoring (PUM).

Individuals will be considered as PUIs if they have a fever; respiratory infection; travel history in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau; and has a history of exposure.

Based on the Covid-19 case tracker as of February 24, no PUIs were added to the list. Davao Region maintained a zero number of PUIs currently admitted in the hospitals here.

Health authorities earlier assured that the two state-run hospitals- Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) and Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) are ready to address should there be confirmed cases here. The government hospitals are equipped with facilities to isolate patients with trained hospital personnel.

All the previously admitted PUIs were all discharged after their results have tested negative for the new strain of coronavirus.

On Monday, the DOH Davao Center for Health Development through the Health Emergency and Management System (HEMS) called for the 3rd Regional Inter-agency Task Force on Emerging and Reemerging Infectious Diseases at Grand Men Seng Hotel.

“The meeting aims to have direct dialogue with the representatives from different agencies to ensure preparedness,” DOH said.

The activity was attended by different concerned agencies from the Bureau of Quarantine, Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and health officials, among others, to lay out plans on how to address the emerging dreaded disease.
