Fil-Am jungolf tees of May 30

THE summer capital will once again play host to up and coming junior parbusters from all over the country in the 2nd Fil-Am Jungolf Invitational from May 30 to June 2.

The second junior golf tournament in Baguio City is part of Fil-Am foundation’s bid to develop young golfers to become prominent amateur and professional golfers in the future.

Organizers said the funding for the junior golf tournament was culled from the proceeds of the last the Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament in 2019.

At least 80 to 100 junior golfers from the different parts of the country are expected to participate in the first-ever junior golf competition in the city.

The tournament will have three classifications in both Fil and Am divisions.

Fil divisions will include Fil A (17 to 18 years old), Fil B (15 to 16 years old), Fil C (13 to 14 years old) while the Am division will have Am A (11 to 12 years old) Am B (9 to 10 years old), and Am C (eight years old and below.

Registration is free for all Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay dependents and grandchildren including members of the Baguio Junior golf Association.

Other Jungolfers are asked to shell out P1,000 for the registration which includes two practice rounds, two tournament rounds, snacks, and giveaways.

Mode of play is 36 hole Molave point system (individual).

The Fil-Am Golf foundation has been involved in the conduct of numerous corporate social responsibility projects that range from environmental preservation and protection, medical-dental missions, relief operations, among others that contributed in the growth and development of communities in the different parts of the city and neighboring towns of Benguet.

Junior golfers will have a chance to play in the two challenging golf courses with peculiar conditions wherein they will surely love to play the sport.

The tournament will be an individual competition to test the ability of the young golfers to play in the two courses before the organizers will look into the possibility of conducting the event through team completion in the coming years. (Roderick Osis)
