MONTHS before the prestigious Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant, Vincy Vacalares, who will be representing Cagayan de Oro City, is already physically and mentally fit to take on the competition.

Vacalares, a 22-year-old Kagay-anon beauty from Barangay Camaman-an, is a passionate teacher in Corpus Christi who won as second runner-up during the Miss Cagayan de Oro pageant last August 2019.

A young educator who gets her drive to win from her supportive family, Vacalares is advocating for the education of the children in the city in coordination with City Mayor Oscar Moreno's focus on building schools.

According to Vacalares, the Miss Universe Philippines is "very challenging" for her as it is her first time joining a pageant held in

the national stage.

"I won't be dealing lang sa mga local nga mga beauties, I will be dealing with Luzon, Visayas and other parts of Mindanao nga mga beauties," Vacalares said.

She said she welcomes this challenge and look at it as an opportunity to meet new friends and become a part of her growth.

The Miss Universe Philippines is slated to happen on May 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

"Pinalangga namong Cagayan de Oro, I am humbly asking for your support ang help especially prayers sa akoang pag-apil aning presteheryoso nga pageant," Vacalares said.

"I hope that you will help me especially sa mga text votes, internet votes, I really need your prayers and your support," she added.
