Villages urged to install CCTV cameras to deter crimes

CAGAYAN de Oro City Administrator Teodoro Sabuga-a Jr. said they are planning to recommend to the City Council, particularly the committee on peace and order, to create an ordinance that will require all barangays to put up their own closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

Sabuga-a said the creation of the said city ordinance will help deter criminality within the barangays and to catch those who kept on throwing their garbage improperly.

"I really endorse nga kung mahimo maka come up na gyud kita og usa ka city ordinance requiring all barangays to put up their own CCTV cameras kay ang intention nato ana is maka deter kana sa kriminalidad labi na kanang atong pagpanglabay sa basura," Sabuga-a said.

"Maklaro nato nga kinsa ba kining mga lugar nga galabayanan," he added.

Sabuga-a also shared a concern on the increase of petty crimes in some of the barangays.

He said he plans to map out barangay and areas where there are presence of petty crimes and to post barangay tanods on said locations.

"Gusto ko ni imapa asa kini ang mga petty crimes unya dayon pa postehan gyud na sya og tanod," Sabuga-a said.

He added that all barangays should be required to submit the schedule of their barangay tanods and where they are deployed.

"Ang ako karon black and white nata kay kinahanglan man ni nato tabangan. We cannot allow crimes nga mo-posper dinhi sa ato," Sabuga-a said.

"If ever naay barangay karon dinha nga wala kay tanod tungod kay they cannot recruit more because of their problem of population then we can augment that. Ngano di man ta mokuha sa ubang barangay nga daghan tao," he added.

He said the visibility of persons of authority will help prevent crimes from happening in the area.
