AN ILLEGAL drug courier, who is a minor, was rescued by authorities in a drug bust on Monday evening, February 24, at corner Roxas Avenue and Quezon Boulevard, Barangay 31-D, Davao City.
Based on the report provided by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the drug enforcement unit of Sta. Ana Police Station conducted a drug bust at 11:10 p.m. against the subject.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male who is a resident of Marfori in Barangay 10-A, Davao City. His identity was withheld because he is a minor.
“The suspect was arrested after a poseur buyer successfully purchased one piece of transparent plastic sachets containing suspected dried marijuana with fruiting taps in exchange of prepared P100 bill buy-bust money,” the report said.
Confiscated from the suspect were five sachets of suspected dried marijuana with an estimated weight of 0.1221 grams and an estimated street market value of P500, one-piece black coin purse, and P100 bust money.
DCPO said the suspect is under the Directorate for Intelligence Drugs Watchlist.
Meanwhile, a case for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act is now being prepared for filing through the summary inquest procedure.
In a separate operation, Regional Special Operations Group-Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RSOG-RPDEU) Davao and Drug Enforcement Operatives of Talomo Police Station seized three sachets weighing 6.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” with an estimated street value of P104,000 from two drug suspects during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted on Monday evening.
The operation led to the arrest of Kathay Lyn Luzon Mortillaro, 34, unemployed and resident of Purok 15, Kabataan Center Village, Bago Gallera, Davao City; and Jhonson Bermudez Mangin, 28, motorcycle driver and resident of Purok San Agustin, Ulas, Davao City.
He added that the suspects, who were nabbed at around 7 p.m. on February 24 at Purok 7, Center Beach, Coastal Road, Talomo, Davao City, are now under the custody of the police while charges are being prepared against them.
