Nocppo leads indignation rally vs CPP-NPA

AN INDIGNATION rally against the violence of the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels that resulted to the death of a police officer was held in front of Manuel Y. Torres Coliseum, Bago City on February 25.

Negros Occidental Provincial Police Director Romeo Baleros who expressed full support joined the rally along with the various sectors and force multipliers.

Baleros said he strongly condemned the inhumane act of the terrorist group NPA which resulted to the death of Police Captain Efren Espanto, team leader of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 situated at Dumangas, Iloilo City.

Espanto who is from La Carlota City and his team were conducting a major operation at Brgy. Aglobong, Janiuay, Iloilo last February 12, 2020 encountered armed men which resulted to a thirty-minute gun fight. Espanto was fatally hit causing his untimely death.

People admired and hailed the said police officer for his utmost dedication for our country and people that cost him his life.

Espanto was a graduate of Philippine National Police Academy 2015 Class Lakandula, and was known as a good leader, a hero, a dutiful son, a responsible husband and a loving father.

His legacy and bravery will be nailed to every heart of his fellow police officers.

During the same activity, one of the rebel returnees testified his handcuffed life experience along with the New People’s Army. He recalled how misguided he was when he believed that the group was a poor oriented cause, defender of the oppressed and the answer for poverty. However, he volunteered to surrender to the arms of government after knowing the true color and meaningless ideology of terrorist New People’s Army. (TDE)
