A WANTED rape suspect armed with a pistol was killed after he allegedly fought back against law enforcers who were about to serve an arrest warrant against him in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte on Wednesday, February 26.
The suspect identified as Demetrio Fuentes, has a pending arrest warrant for rape issued by a court last week. The court did not allow him to post bail.
Investigation disclosed that personnel of Kapatagan town police received an information that the suspect is sighted at Purok 5, Butadon, Kapatagan town.
The service of the court order turned bloody when the suspect allegedly fired his gun upon sensing the presence of the police about three meters away from his position, prompting the operatives to return fire.
The suspect sustained gunshot wounds and was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the scene were caliber .38 revolver and fired cartridge cases.
