PUBLIC gatherings in Benguet’s capital town La Trinidad are now allowed following the recent Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Tourism (DOT) joint circular issued on February 18.
Concerts, pageants, barangay general assemblies and other activities in La Trinidad will continue according to Mayor Romeo Salda in his recent memorandum circular.
To recall, the town suspended its crowd-drawing activities after the issued advisories from national agencies discouraging crowd drawing events amid coronavirus disease (Covid-19) threat.
The chief executive however reiterated the cancellation of 2020 Strawberry Festival stands while all organizers of public gatherings are advised to inform their office of the details of the event to be staged in the town.
On February 26, during the Cordillera Regional Risk Reduction and Management Caravan of Office of Civil Defense Cordillera in La Trinidad, the Cordillera region including Benguet Province remains free from Covid-19.
Doctor Amelita Pangilinan, DOH-Cordillera regional director reminds the public of the “POWER” health advise, which are proper coughing or sneezing etiquette; obtain information only from verified source; wash hands properly and frequently; eat nutritious food and stay healthy; and refrain from going to crowded areas, especially when you are sick.
With festivals or other crowd drawing events now rescheduled in Baguio and other parts of Cordillera, Pangilinan reminds the people to observe health precautionary measures and practice better health seeking behavior. (With a report from Philippine Information Agency–CAR)
