Pelayo: Citizen EdPam on 7 decades of shared friendship

FORMER Angeles city mayor Edgardo “Ed” Pamintuan has turned 71 years old last February 23. One of his closest friends, the original Dennis Uy, organized a supposedly modest birthday party of just seventy guests which was later learned to be not feasible. That was not a surprise. EdPam has too many friends.

And so, the gathering went on at Fortune Restaurant in Balibago. By merely looking who were seated on the round tables, familiar faces galore while a few new ones also seen during the occasion. It was pure fun, no politics, no hard speeches, no nonsense.

The delectable lunch hosted by “Tsuk Tsuk” was complimented with entertaining Beatles music by one of EdPam’s favorite bands, Dr. Flavor. The crowd had also been serenaded by Angeles City’s nightingale Leigh Jocson giving her rendition of Beatles songs.

I admire how Converge ICT’s big boss, Dennis Anthony Uy, delivered his message. He spoke in Kapampangan throughout his speech. He shared his first encounter with his older friend, those times when he was still young and idealistic on some perspective. He treasures his seventeen years of friendship with EdPam, even went on jokingly roasting him about the secrets they only share among themselves.

After blowing the candle of the birthday cake prepared by former city first lady Herminia “Miniang” Pamintuan, EdPam took the time to thank each and everyone who graced the event. Taken from the words of famous Beatle and music legend John Lennon, EdPam said that we should count our age not by years but by friends.
