“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength. And so whoever loves much, performs much, and what is done in love is well done. I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” - Vincent Van Gogh

I believe that this very much describes our performers, artists and creatives in the city. Indeed, their passion for their work is not only for the love of self-expression but also for the love of others.

A “Bloody Valentine”, a blood donation drive and bloodletting activity with the simultaneous support of performing bands was held last February 15. This was in cooperation with Red Cross Baguio, Bookends, and Succor Consortium also in association with Care Inc. and Vezh Production. Twenty-two bags of blood were generated and donated. The Pasa-Kalye group gave out handmade bracelets to all the performers and donors. The performers included Tones from the Rooftop (Host Band), Ibarra, Amateurish, BNB Band, The Noisynaughts, The Hempfueled, Ray, Pugaw Laya, Baguio Gold Music, Good Vives, Francis Babaw, Non Skid and Laura Jane. This charitable event was directed by Papa Rods, with Cinematography by Paraluman and the special participation of the Pasa-Kalye Group of Artists.

Art in the Park - Plein Air Painting for the Baguio in Bloom, a project by the Department of Tourism CAR in partnership with the Pasa-Kalye Group of Artists. This was held February 15-16 and on February 22 -23, at the Rose Garden-Burnham Park, Malcolm Square and at the Botanical Garden.

A young visual artist also recently opened a photo exhibit in the hope to raise funds for a school for the blind here in Baguio City. Meet 15-year old Ieago Villanueva who at an early age of 11 had an inkling for photography. Today, Ieago is a full pledged photographer with the support of her mom Kate.

Ieago has mounted his first solo photo exhibit at the Igorot Charm Cafe themed “Eye Am Ready”, a collection of portraits mostly on daily life - people scenes around Baguio.

This is a poignant reminder of Ieago, who himself is afflicted with a congenital eye ailment. It is indeed a big gesture on his part to people coping with various eye problems. Ieago is donating the proceeds of his photo exhibit to the Northern Luzon Association of the Blind.
