THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental–South has distributed certificates of land ownership awards (Cloas) and has installed 13 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) at Barangay Dulao in Bago City on Friday, February 28.

They were installed after receiving their Cloas covering over eight hectares of landholding formerly owned by Insular Bank of Asia and America of the said locality.

Senior Agrarian Reform Program Technologist Jeremiah Barrientos Barrientos, who represented Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Aurea Lingamen, told the farmers to organize into a cooperative.

“Now that you have your land titles and you are installed, I encourage you to join agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (Arbos) because it is through these organizations that farmers could avail bundles of support services from DAR,” he said.

Barrientos also reminded the farmers of their obligations to their newly acquired property, advising them not to sell their lands and to pay their taxes to the government and the annual land amortization to the Land Bank of the Philippines.

He said their properties were very important since they would be passed on to their next generations. (Erwin P. Nicavera)
