Eagles escape Rams in Elite Basketball Cebu

THE reigning champions Eagles put down the Rams, 99-96, for their fourth victory in the Elite Basketball Club Cebu City Season 17 at the Visayan Glass gym on Friday, February 28, 2020.

The Eagles dominated the first three periods and moved ahead, 74-50, with just 10 minutes left to play. The Rams tried to mount a comeback but the Eagles hung on down the stretch to improve their win-loss record to 4-1.

Former Cebu Shark Ian Ortega led the Eagles in scoring with 23 points but it was Allan Dimco’s masterful performance that was critical to the team’s win as the former Cebu Institute of Technology-University Wildcats star tallied 22 points, 20 rebounds, eight assists, a steal and two blocks.

Mark Ynoc tallied 17 while Rex Tuazon added 16 markers to also help the Eagles.

Jonathan Adlawan led the Rams with 34 points but it was not enough to keep them from falling to 4-2.

Meanwhile, the Wolves evened their record up at 3-3 after they routed the Bulldogs, 73-54. Paolo Georsua almost had a triple-double for the Wolves with his 16 points, 18 rebounds and seven assists.

Ian Cabañero and Paul Torrecampo had 15 points apiece to push the Wolves to the victory.
