Woman arrested for falsifying docs

A WOMAN, who is allegedly manufacturing counterfeit police clearance, was apprehended by the police on Thursday, February 27, at Sitio Idong, Barangay Astorga, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Based on the report, at 11 a.m. the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station received a report from a concerned citizen about an issuance of fake police clearance. This prompted the authorities to proceed at the area to verify the report.

The suspect, identified as Mae Emelie Du Amoza, 26, and resident in the area, was caught in the act of issuing fake police clearance.

Police clearance certificate is only given if the applicant has no criminal records. It also ensures that an individual has no standing warrant of arrest, convicted, under probation and/or pending case.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession are a computer set, one unit printer, money amounting to P150, two pieces fake police clearance issued by the suspect and two pieces fake barangay clearance certificate.

The suspect and recovered items are now under the custody of Sta. Cruz police station for proper disposition of the case.

Meanwhile, the suspect is facing charges for violating Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code or falsification of public and private documents. A person who is guilty of falsifying documents will face imprisonment of up to 12 years and a fine of up to P5,000.
