Serial ‘rapist’ collared

AN 11—YEAR-OLD girl was rescued after he was allegedly abducted and raped by his lone captor.

Based on police reports from Station 7, the victim is a grade 6 student and a resident of Baguio City, who was reported missing by her parents Thursday night, February 27.

On February 28, police led by Major Marlo Gasingan Evasco with personnel from Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 9 arrested Sammy Nonong Palce in Asin Road and rescued the 6th grader.

Palce has a standing warrant of arrest for the same crime in La Union where he abducted and raped another victim.

Police said Palce threatened to kill the new victim if she refused to follow his instructions.

No bail has been recommended after his arrest.

The rescue was made after police recovered a CCTV footage from the overpass at Maharlika Livelihood Complex showing the victim together with the suspect going towards Abanao Street and later boarded a taxi.

Police then showed the CCTV footage to vendors at Baguio City Public Market and one vendor was able to identify the suspect as well as his address.

Personnel from BCPO Station 7, together with the vendor informant, proceeded at the rented house of the suspect at Km. 3 Asin Road and made the rescue operation that led to an immediate arrest of suspect.

It was said that Palce was a vendor and a native of Sili Naguilian, La Union.

Palce was brought to Station 7 for inquest on 9:30 p.m. Friday, February 28 for kidnapping, illegal detention and rape through sexual assault.

The 11 year old victim was immediately brought to the hospital.
