A COMMUNIST terrorist group(CTG) camp was discovered within Quirino, Ilocos Sur and Besao Mt. Province boundary during a test mission by Special Action Force Course Command (SAFCC) Class 93 and 97-2018.
The discovery was led by Patrolman Alejandro Pambid of the Regional Mobil Force Battalion (RMFB) 15 and the Mountain Province Provincial Mobil Force Command (PMFC), a member of the Platoon 6 of SAFCC Class 97-2018 who were patrolling the area February 29.
During the operation dubbed Red Dawn 2, members of Platoon 6 encountered at least 10 CTGs believed to be members of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG) Ampis and recovered an M16 A1 rifle, three long steel magazines of 5.56mm, 170 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, a bandolier and personal belongings during clearing operations.
No persons were accosted by the police who are still in the process of scouring the area for possible sites where the CTG's may have fled.
