SM City Cagayan de Oro hailed as ‘most improved SM store’ nationwide

SM CITY Cagayan de Oro was awarded the most improved store among all SM outlets nationwide after it surpassed its sales target for 2019.

SM Store Cagayan de Oro management was given the Henry Sy Sr. Excellence Award during SM’s 2020 National Congress, an annual event wherein SM gives awards to its branches which performance are worth mentioning about.

The award, according to Ingrid Viado, the SM City Cagayan de Oro Store branch manager, was based on the branch’s performance, particularly its 2018-2019 performance wherein it was able to surpass the P60 million deficit on year 2017-2018 and met the P1 billion mark.

“During 2017-2018 we were really challenged in terms of our sales performance. At that time we had deficit of P60 million for the year, which means we were only able to achieve 86 percent of our plan or our target,” Viado said.

“But in 2018-2019 we were able to surpass the P60 million. In fact, we already met again the P1 billion mark which we did in 2015 and in 2019 we even had an excess of P22 million, which means to say that’s about P80 million,” she added.

The primary reason why they have the P60 million deficit in 2017-2018, Viado said, was due to the martial law in Mindanao.

As such, they strategized how they were going to entice customers coming up in the uptown area of Cagayan de Oro and at the same they were up to date to the latest fashion trends, Viado shared.

She said they were able to sustain due to their high standard customer service and big sales.

“We are very thankful to all our customers,” Viado said.

At present, SM City Cagayan de Oro is aiming to get the most efficient store award, one of the major recognition that every SM branch nationwide is vying for.
