Bacolod registers 20,953 businesses in one-stop-shop

A TOTAL of 20,953 business establishments have been registered in Bacolod City from January to February 2020, records of the City Mayor’s Office-Permits and Licensing Division showed.

Division head Stela Rose Rayos said yesterday the Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss) has ended on February 29, and the registration has reached 20,953 or with an increase of 1, 381 business registration compared to 19,572 listed for the same period in 2019.

“We increased by seven percent so we also have a big tax collection. The Boss is a big help for our business establishments to secure their business permits,” she said.

She added that starting March 2, those who failed to avail the Boss for renewal of business permit will pay the 25 percent surcharges.

Rayos noted that the city government earlier ordered the closure of some of the business establishments for lack of business permits, and it’s a big help to encourage other business establishments that they should secure permit first before they operate in the city.

The City Council earlier approved the extension of the Boss and the deadline of payment for business permit from January 20 to February 29.

The Boss provided convenience and accessibility to the taxpayers. It includes representatives from the City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Environment and Natural Resources, and the barangays.

Rayos said on March 15, she will deploy the inspection team to inspect the business establishment in various barangays.

“We will check the business permit because once you are operating a business here, you should also secure a business permit,” she said. (MAP)
