THE Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has yet to register cases of coronavirus disease (Covid–19).

Karen Lonogan, senior health program officer of Department of Health (DOH)-CAR, reported as of March 1, some 29 patients under investigation (PUI) were recorded in the region.

Based on DOH–CAR report, Baguio City recorded 12 PUI cases, Abra with seven, Benguet with five, Mountain Province with three, while Apayao and Kalinga had one each Lonogan said all PUIs tested negative for Covid-19 while one is currently admitted to a hospital.

As of March 2, there are 43 PUIs admitted in various health facilities in the country with 592 discharged patients.

Meanwhile, DOH-CAR director Doctor Amelita Pangilinan explained at present, they have yet to receive any updates in the ongoing research done by international health officials against Covid-19.

“We still do not have any studies of an anti-viral medication or a vaccine against the corona virus. Many countries are now in the process of creating a vaccine for this through research. On the possible effects of Covid–19 to an individual due to the sudden change in the weather, the health sector is currently studying the seasonality of this virus because of other cases that turned positive in other countries, they are still establishing the behavior or the virus,” Pangilinan added.
