THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental - North continues to monitor and validate agricultural-financed projects to some of its assisted agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (Arbos).

It conducted an on-site validation in the northern part of the province last week.

During which, members of the agency’s Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD) documented their finances and evaluated the first crop yield of Sitio Tagud Farm Workers Association.

DAR-Negros Occidental I said farming activities for crop years 2020 and 2021 were also projected, taking into consideration the fluctuating global market price of all the sugarcane related products.

The Arbo’s sugarcane production was financed through the Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP), amounting to P1.9 million.

This covers 33.5831 hectares of sugarcane field, assisting the 27 farmer-beneficiaries and their families particularly for their farming financial expenses.

The association is collectively managing the plantation located at Barangay Luna in Cadiz City, it said.

Other activities during the validation included were discussion of their check releases, payment due dates, and ensuring settlements before bank deadlines.

Moreover, the APCP loan is a project of the DAR in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

This is aimed to provide credit to the ARBs at affordable cost, including development assistance and marketing support.

The DAR, through the PBDD, is pushing for the provision of development and support services interventions through training programs and construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure facilities. (EPN)
