Station chiefs told to intensify visibility patrol amid series of robberies

BACOLOD City Police Office (BCPO) director Colonel Henry Biñas ordered all station commanders to intensify its visibility patrol to neutralize the robbery group operating in Bacolod.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Wednesday, March 4, they are now closely monitoring the robbery group who are operating in Bacolod City.

He said BCPO director Binas ordered the station commanders to form a team to monitor the possible operation of the robbery group within their areas of jurisdiction.

He added that they have now the identity of the suspects who are also involved in the operation of illegal drugs in the city.

Last week, two residents in Bacolod City were robbed by unidentified suspects who were armed of unidentified firearms.

The suspects, who were using white vehicle, took assorted appliances, gadgets and cash.

Pico said in 2017, BCPO also conducted a manhunt operation against this group, but the suspects fled and operate in Panay Island.

“Because of our intensified campaign against illegal drugs, it’s their diversion to ransack houses here in Bacolod especially, the low cost housing subdivisions,” he said.

He added the station commanders already held a meeting with the home owner’s association in various subdivisions to implement some measures in their areas.

Pico noted the home owner’s association should hire security to secure their area.

Pico said the installation of closed circuit television (CCTV) camera is a big help to identify the robbers.

“Let’s secure our houses and remind our house helpers not to entertain strangers,” he said.

Pico also urged the public to cooperate with the police to address the robbery incidents in the city. (MAP)
