Mother Teresa of Calcutta Center for Advanced Specialty Care and Cancer unveiled

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- With the aim to touch more lives through expert care, Mother Teresa of Calcutta Medical Center (MTCMC) recently unveiled its new five-story building.

The MTCMC Board of Directors led the inauguration and blessing ceremonies of the new facility, which serves as an extension of the existing building of the hospital.

According to MTCMC Medical Director Dr. Noel Evangelista, the new building houses on its first floor the Central Luzon Integrated Oncology Centre, which is the first cancer center in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

At the second floor is the state-of-the-art operating room complex, which will provide minimally invasive surgeries, said Evangelista.

"We will be using the Olympus OTV-S200 Visera Elite II device which, I believe, is the first time to be used in the Philippines. This is still in line with our pursuit to provide the best healthcare to our patients," he said.

Evangelista also noted the enhanced intensive care units, with comfortable guest lounges for patients' loved ones, is at the third floor of the new building.

Twenty-three brand new rooms equipped with high-end apparatus and appliances, are also made available for the comfort and safety of patients at the fourth floor, he added.

MTCMC President Noel Cortez said the construction and set-up of the new building follows many Joint Commission International (JCI) standards -- an international accreditation body for the performance of hospitals across the globe.

Cortez said the renovation of the old building is already in the pipeline as the management wanted to provide a consistent experience to patients through its services and also facilities.

Cortez added that the continuous development in MTCMC is part of the long-term planning that is geared towards the hospital's mission of touching lives through expert care.

"We have a long-term masterplan that we follow. Year by year, we try to implement projects that are consistently aimed at providing the best healthcare to our patients," he said.
