Malaybalay, Gingoog to host '3-on-3 hoops'

TOP hoopsters in Cagayan de Oro, with the swagger on street play, are expected to try their luck in the regional/provincial eliminations of the MDC National 3-on-3 basketball tournament for Northern Mindanao.

First to unfold is the Malaybalay City leg on Sunday, March 8, at theFreedom Park basketball court of Bukidnon's capital town known for its breezy air and cool weather.

Events on tap are the boys' 10-under, 12 under, 15-under and the men's 18-under and 21-under divisions.

There will be also competitions for women's 18-under and women's open categories.

"Among the Oro bets, I am expecting the participation of coach Catrina June Pong-Biongcog's wards from Corpus Christi School as part of their preparation for the Batang Pinoy National Finals of which they are the defending champions. Sagop pud niya ang pipila ka players from Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS)," CDO public school hoops promoter Raul Fuentes told SunStar Cagayan de Oro.

Entry fee is pegged at P3,000 per team inclusive of four pieces of reversible jersey.

Prizes such as medals, trophy and MDC ball await the winners, according to event coordinator Joyce L. Molina who can be reached through her mobile phone number 09171673446.

On March 15, also a Sunday, it will be Gingoog City's turn to host the 3-on-3 event.

Tournament facilitator Joselito Asilo (09750857045) said the games will be held at the ASL gym of Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

All the winning teams in Malaybalay and Gingoog will advance to the National Finals to be slated in Manila on May 11-12.
