Woman from PH tests positive for Covid-19 in Australia

A 60-YEAR-OLD woman who arrived in Australia from the Philippines has tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the New South Wales (NSW) government said Thursday, March 5.

The NSW Ministry of Health said on its website that the woman arrived in Sydney, Australia on March 3 via Cebu Pacific flight 5J39.

"Her travel details are being obtained and will be disclosed if she posed a risk to any other passengers on her flight," the Ministry said.

Neither Cebu Pacific nor the Department of Health has issued a statement on the matter.

The 60-year-old woman is among the latest confirmed cases of Covid-19 in NSW, which has 25 cases as of Thursday, March 5.

Of the 25, four patients have been cleared of the virus and discharged from hospital.

A 95-year-old resident of the Dorothy Henderson Lodge at Macquarie Park who tested positive for coronavirus died in hospital on Tuesday, March 3.

The Ministry of Health assured the public that it will continue to find and respond to positive cases to prevent the spread of the new virus. (LMY/SunStar Philippines)
