Bougainvillea Cebu Extravaganza 2020

Bougainvillea Cebu Extravaganza 2020

THE “Bougainvillea Cebu Extravaganza” will be held at The Terraces, Ayala Cebu Center from March 6 to 15.

The country’s top producers of imported bougainvilleas—Martin Villaflores of San Martin’s Gardens Cebu; Sheila Mendac and Irish Montesor of Valencia, Dumaguete; Domingo Villaver and Julianne Grace Embate of Carcar, Cebu; and Mary Grace Belleza of Davao—will exhibit and sell their rare and regular imported bougainvillea varieties, along with Cebu’s up and coming bougainvillea producers, the dynamic duo of Mary Ann Lugtu and Ma. Royla (Weng) Cerojano. Sen. Imee Marcos’s Pangkabuhayan Ladies will also sell local rooted and grafted bougainvilleas.

Seminars on Bougainvillea are also scheduled every afternoon from March 8 to 13 at 1 to 3 p.m. On the last weekend, families can join the art class on how to draw bougainvilleas.

One of the event’s highlights is the Bougainvillea show—a cash prize of P100,000 awaits the winner. Another highlight is the private gardens tour on the second day of the event. Villa Mariquita will open—for the first time—its private villa. Cebu’s top landscape artist, Jaime Chua, will open his garden and host lunch. The eight-month-old Jardin de Muntuerto will be the final destination in the heritage city of Carcar, at Perrelos, where the “miracle of the dancing sun” took place more than 25 years ago. The tour package includes transportation and meals.

The event is hosted by Bougainvillea Cebu Garden Club. (PR)
