LOCAL authorities seized about P800,000 worth of illegal drugs during an operation at Purok 2, Catagman Limao, Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos).

The suspect was identified as Jupiter Garay Sabandal, 40, farm caretaker and a resident of Igacos. He was together with a 19-year-old cohort named Jaymar Matilac Himagan.

Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (Pdea) Davao anticipated the recovery of the bulk of illegal drugs, which is possibly a portion of the 60 kilograms of drugs that leaked from Marawi City.

The operation was carried out by the combined forces of the Sta. Ana Police Station Drug Enforcement Operatives, Igacos Police Station together with Pdea on Tuesday afternoon, March 3. It resulted to the recovery of an estimated P768,000 worth of illegal drugs weighing 50 grams of suspected shabu.

“The arrest of the subject persons will minimize if not fully terminate the circulation of illegal drugs within Igacos and Davao City,” the report said.

Based on the report, the customers of the suspect are mostly distributors from Davao City and Davao Del Norte. The suspects were also under the Directorate for Intelligence Drugs Watchlist.

The pieces of evidence are currently temporarily withheld while cases for violation of RA 9165 are being prepared for filing through summary inquest procedure.

On March 1, almost P1 million worth of illegal drugs and a shotgun were seized from two drug personalities who were listed in the Directorate for Intelligence Watchlist during an entrapment operation in Matina Crossing, Davao City.

After more than a week of surveillance, the two individuals who were once cuffed for drug charges were rearrested anew in two successive anti-illegal drugs operations conducted by the personnel of Regional Special Operations Group- Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RSOG-RPDEU 11) and Talomo Police Station both headed by Police Lieutenant Ronald Lao.
