Penro: Cutting of trees at Panaad Park may start July

THE cutting of Eucalyptus trees at the Panaad Park and Stadium may start in July or August this year during the rainy season.

Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office head Danilo Amisola said it would be ideal to cut the trees during rainy season so that the replanting could immediately proceed and ensure that the newly planted seedlings would grow.

Amisola also revealed that there was already a plan to cut the eucalyptus trees since the time of former governor Rafael Coscolluela but it is only now that it would be materialized.

“It has been found through studies that Eucalyptus syphons too much water underneath that’s why other trees cannot grow and there is a hotter temperature at the area,” Amisola added.

Aside from the negative findings about eucalyptus trees, the province would like more parking spaces at Panad Park which is the venue for big events.

It will also be the main venue of the Palarong Pambansa in year 2021 which will be hosted by the province. (TDE)
