‘Shabu’ in a condom seized from suspect

WHILE law enforcers have been relentless in running after drug personalities, offenders have also become creative in concealing illegal substances. The latest suspect who was arrested hid her illegal items in a condom and placed it in pieces of bread.

Based on the report, the suspect was identified as Sheila Mae Lenihan Reynes, 25, and a resident of St. Jude, Baliok, Toril, Davao City.

She was arrested around 9:50 a.m. through a joint operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Davao, Talomo Police Station and Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of San Pedro PS.

Reynes was arrested at Candelaria Street, Barangay 76-A, Davao City, particularly at the waiting shed fronting Hall of Justice. The suspect allegedly had a supposed transaction with an inmate who had a trial inside the court.

Authorities are coordinating with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Davao on the allegation and for further investigation.

Recovered from the suspect was over half a million worth of illegal drugs with an estimated street market value of P560,000 and the non-drug items were also taken into custody.

Initially, the suspect sold a jumbo transparent rolled plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” that was placed inside a condom and concealed into a piece of bread to a police operative in exchange of boodle drug bust marked money worth P16,000.

Seized from her possession were two pieces jumbo transparent rolled plastic sachets of suspected shabu which were wrapped inside, two separate condoms and concealed in two pieces of bread, then placed inside a Jollibee Tuna Pie pack, one unit black Samsung keypad cellular phone used in drug transactions; a brown shoulder bag and the P16,000 worth of boodle drug bust marked money.

Reynes is currently facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
