Villages in Bataan awarded for outstanding health programs

ABOUT 41 villages in the province were awarded Monday, March 2 for achieving outstanding accomplishments in health for the months of October, November and December 2019.

Governor Albert Raymond Garcia said the 1Bataan Seal of Healthy Barangay is given to deserving barangays that demonstrated exemplary health performances based on the set indicators.

“We’ve developed this incentive-based program to challenge local officials of the 237 barangays in the province to attain a high life expectancy rate in their community,” Garcia said.

A total of 29 barangays were awarded for the month of November while 26 barangays for the months of October and December.

Barangays Cupang West in Balanga City; Silahis in Orani; Palili in Samal; and Balut I, Balut II, Burgos, Bantan Munti, Landing, Nagwaling, Panilao, Pantingan, Wakas South, Rizal, Wawa, Del Rosario, Alauli, Liyang and Palili in Pilar received the award for the three consecutive months.

Indicators in determining winning barangays, as assessed by the Provincial Health Office, include achieving zero cases of dengue, measles, animal bites, maternal death and illegal drug activities.

Also, lower mortality rate in the area, conduct of voluntary blood donation activities, and participation to the province’s tree planting project.

Winners received P50,000 cash prize for each month they were awarded. (PIA-Central Luzon)
