THE Angeles City Government will give free anti-rabies vaccinations to at least 30,000 pets as one of priority programs of Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr.
The mayor said this is to ensure that the city will be rabies-free.
“This is our way to teach responsible pet ownership. Pets must receive booster vaccination every 12 months,” he said.
The City Government, through the City Veterinary Office, will host the first leg of a house-to-house anti-rabies campaign in March. Their office is also open for walk-ins during Mondays to Fridays.
According to City Veterinary Officer Dr. Christian Arcilla, they are scheduled to visit every barangay to ensure pets will be given free anti-rabies vaccines as well as to rescue stray dogs and cats.
The mayor is targeting for zero stray dogs and cats by 2022.
Apart from this, the City Government will also provide free deworming vaccine, spaying and neutering for pets.
It can be recalled that Lazatin instructed Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel recently to immediately coordinate with members of City Veterinary Office to inspect illegal breeders and sellers of dogs. Rescued puppies are now in the custody of the city hall’s dog pound. (PR)
