Masbad: Stay safe, stay protected

THE past couple of months, we’ve been inundated with news of the new coronavirus. And in the last few weeks, it’s been spreading worldwide. And whether we like it or not, it’s also causing people to panic and is having such an effect on everything. The tech world is not spared from its effects as well. Offices of Amazon, Google, Facebook and Microsoft in Seattle are closed as the virus continues to spread in the US. Employees have been advised to stay at home and work remotely.

Back here at home, majority of companies still don’t have the capabilities nor the infrastructure to allow employees to work remotely, so everyone still needs to report for work in the office. Of course, it can’t be obvious enough that you’ll have a higher chance of contracting or spreading or both the coronavirus.

Let’s take a breather this week from the tech world and here’s a few things you can do on your own to help prevent the spread of the virus that’s holding a grip on the world right now.

Here are some reminders from the World Health Organization. And I’m quoting these directly from their page here.

* Wash your hands frequently.

* Maintain social distancing.

* Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.

* Practice respiratory hygiene.

* If you have fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.

* Stay informed and follow advice given your healthcare provider.
