THE new non-stop flights between Cebu and Los Angeles thrice weekly starting May 2 will build up Cebu as an international aviation hub. There were cheers as Philippine Airlines’ (PAL) vice president for marketing announced this during dinner at Radisson Blu Cebu.

“This will give the Central Visayas region its first link to North America. This new trend in travel will furthermore bring the ‘Heart of the Filipino’ across the globe. The Boeing 777-300 ER accommodates about 370 passengers with cabin features and air travel amenities to assure long haul comfort for 13 to 14 hours.” Jose Perez de Tagle, vice president for corporate communications, said PAL will “strengthen as hub of connecting flights, with the convenience of Mactan Cebu as the leading transfer airport.”

Harry Inoferio, PAL senior assistant vice president for Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao, cited Cebu’s location as an excellent gateway to the other regions and will strengthen as the best business and leisure destination. This was affirmed by Andrew Harrison of the GMR Megawide-Cebu Airport Corp.

Thumbs up for PAL’s Los Angeles destination.
