6 fall in anti-drug operations

POLICE have arrested six persons and seized P403,400 worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga Peninsula, an official said Monday, March 9.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Jessie Alegarme, 32; Jonas Perez, 21; Diogracio Teves, 37; Alauya Macabinta, 39; Samsoden Acmad, 33; and Nerie Maraveles, 27.

Galvez said Alegarme, listed as high-value target, was nabbed with P20,400 worth of shabu in a drug bust around 2:15 a.m. Monday in Purok Gumamela, Barangay San Jose, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Also confiscated from Alegarme was P1,000 marked money and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Perez was caught in possession of P3,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested around 3:40 p.m. Sunday in the village of Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.

Seized from Teves, Macabinta, and Acmad were P340,000 worth of shabu and three bundles of P255,000 boodle money when arrested around 8 p.m. Saturday in the village of Camanga, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Galvez said Maraveles was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Sitio North Curvada, in the village of Galas, Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte.

Recovered from Maraveles were P40,000 worth of shabu, P500 marked money and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
