DavOro looking for more rooms for Davraa

DESPITE staging the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet for the second time, Davao de Oro would still need other areas proximate to the province to help them cater to the influx of visitors during the meet.

Davraa, which is orginally slated on April 1-7, 2020 but postponed to an indefinite date due to Covid-2019, is expected to gather around 10,000 visitors, including delegates, to Davao de Oro.

Vice Governor Maria Carmen Zamora, the province’s Davraa action officer, said as for the participants there is no need to worry as their billeting quarters are already being readied.

But for other visitors, they have coordinated their local tourism office to address the issue on accommodation for Davraa 2020 visitors.

However, in the event of the influx of tourists, she said other areas in the region are enjoined to cater to them, especially that majority of the access roads in these areas are already well-constructed.

“We are confident that we have neighboring cities and provinces who can also accommodate them, and that actually means spreading the opportunity to other areas in the region,” Zamora said.

She added that the sharing of opportunities is the essence of the sporting event.

“That is actually the spirit of Davraa, one Davao Region,” she said.

Davao de Oro held the same event in 2011 under its old name, Compostela Valley Province.
